Lucy's Story

Lucy's Soap is named after my great-grandma Lucy who was my inspiration to become a farmer.  Having grown up in the city, Grandma Lucy's farm was a fascinating and enchanting place that I loved with all my heart.

It took until well into my adult years before farm living became a reality.  My husband Vince and I wanted our sons Sasha and Ilya to grow up knowing where their food came from.  After finding acreage in 2001, we began building our small family farm complete with chickens, turkeys, horses, dogs, cats and of course - dairy goats!

Since I was the only one in the family who enjoyed goat milk, I needed to come up with a way to use what remained.  While attending a local farming conference, I met Dela and Tony Ends who had a grant to teach other farm families how to make goat milk soap.  That was in 2005 and I haven't stopped since!

Handcrafted on our small family farm, Lucy's Soap is made using the same old fashioned principals of hard work and excellence that would make Grandma proud. Our small herd of Alpine dairy goats are milked by hand twice a day.  Their rich, creamy milk provides the moisturizing base for all of Lucy's Soaps. Unlike many other handcrafted soaps, Lucy's is "Milled".  That means it has been melted not once but twice.  The benefits of this second melt are that the soap lasts longer and holds its scent longer.

Lucy's Soap donates 10% of every sale to Change 30.  This organization works in Russia to raise the life expectancy of orphans.  Since both of our boys were adopted from Russian orphanages, we believe strongly in giving back to this worthy organization.
